Andrés joined IDMC in 2016 and monitors conflict and disaster induced internal displacement in Latin America and beyond. He brings experience in data analysis in the context of economic development and social impact to the table. Before that, he had done quantitative research on international trade, economic development, and agriculture at Columbia Univeristy and for the Colombian Government. He’s served as an advisor to the Deputy Minister of Education in Colombia and he designed and set up an impact analysis platform for Univision Noticias’ social impact unit. Andrés has also worked for UNDP, Colombia’s National Planning Ministry, Grameen Bank, and several start ups and social enterprises in Colombia, Ghana, Kenya, France, and the US.
Andrés holds a Masters Degree in International Affairs from the Institute d’Etudes Politiques (Sciences Po) in Paris and from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. He is fluent in Spanish, English, French, and German.
