Profile of Internal Displacement: Georgia

Tens of thousands of people displaced from Georgia's secessionist territories of Abkhazia and South Ossetia have been waiting to return home for more than a decade. Close to 240,000 internally displaced people (IDPs) continue to live in precarious conditions, mostly accommodated in collective centres and dependent on meagre state benefits.
