"Nowhere to return to": Iraqis' search for durable solutions continues

1 November 2018 | 10am - 12pm

Salle 13, International Conference Centre Geneva (CICG)

17 Rue de Varembé, Geneva

In the 2017 Global Report on Internal Displacement, the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC) set out to better understand the relationship between internal displacement and cross-border movements. As part of the resulting Invisible Majority thematic series, the forthcoming report, based on over three hundred interviews in Iraq, Jordan, and Sweden, examines drivers of displacement and onward movement of internally displaced persons (IDPs) within and across borders, provides better understanding of priorities and preconditions for voluntary return, and examines obstacles to durable solutions for returning refugees and IDPs in Iraq.

IDMC warmly invites you to attend the launch of this new study on 1 November 2018 at the International Conference Centre in Geneva. After a presentation of IDMC’s findings, a panel of experts will respond to a series of questions drawn from the study’s key findings and recommendations, encouraging further contributions from the floor.
