At the end of 2012, IDMC reported 32.4 million people newly displaced worldwide by disasters, and 28.8 million displaced through conflict and violence, the highest number ever recorded by IDMC

Displaced by disasters: 32.4 million people uprooted in both rich and poor countries

IDMC report reveals that 32.4 million people forced to flee their homes in 2012 by disasters such as floods, storms and earthquakes. Though Asia and Africa bore the brunt, 1.3 million also displaced in rich countries, USA particularly affected.
