Since 2005, 197,000 people have been internally displaced in the Central African Republic (CAR) due to the armed conflict between the government of François Bozizé and various rebel groups, and because of serious human rights abuses by road bandits known as Zaraguina or coupeurs de route who take advantage of instability, lawlessness and insufficient security provided by the state.
