Profile of Internal Displacement: Democratic Republic of the Congo (October 2001)
Despite the cease-fire between the primary armed groups in DR Congo (DRC), fighting is still ongoing in the east of the country where most of the two million internally displaced persons reside. The humanitarian situation remains desperate, and due to insecurity and lack of funding, the international response is far from sufficient to cover the needs of the displaced.
